When we read the book of Genesis 37 we see the story of Joseph and how he was sold out by his brothers out of Jealousy. The story of Joseph is one that a lot got to learn from.
Joseph who was a special son and most loved to his father and was granted the special robe of many colors. When Joseph told his brother about his dream where his brothers, and the stars and the moons all bowing down for him.
His reported dream brought upon anger and jealousy in the minds of his brothers that they sold him into slavery to a traveling caravan of Ishmaelites who took him to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh’s guard.
There was shortages of food in Canaan which made Jacob to send his sons out to the land of Egypt to get grains. Benjamin, Joseph’s younger brother was left at home out with Jacob out of fears of loosing him.
When Joseph encountered his brothers again, although they did not recognize him, he then tests the character of his brothers by placing a silver cup in the sack of that of Benjamin, accusing him falsely of theft.
When Judah offers to stay in place of Benjamin, He knew that his character has changed and reveals that he is their sold out brother. Joseph explains they need not feel guilty for betraying him as it was God’s plan for him to be in Egypt to preserve their family.
He requested of them to bring in their father and his entire household into the land of Egypt to live in the province of Goshen because there were five more years of famine left.
Joseph supplied them with the Egyptian transport wagons and twenty additional donkeys carrying provisions for their journey back to Canaan. Jacob is reunited with his son Joseph.
